Overview

Diagonal Neck Stretch is a neck exercise designed to improve flexibility and expand the neck’s range of motion. It works the scalene muscles and other muscles along the side of the neck, which help with neck flexion, rotation, and side bending.

Doing diagonal neck stretches on a regular basis can help boost flexibility and ease neck discomfort. Add them to your daily routine, especially if you sit at a desk or do activities that place extra strain on your neck muscles.

How to do it

  1. 1

Rotate your neck diagonally to the right at a 45-degree angle.

  2. 2

Gently bring your head down toward your chest while keeping the rotation to the side.

  3. 3

You should feel a mild stretch along the side and back of your neck.

  4. 4

Keep this position for 15-30 seconds and breathe steadily and calmly.

  5. 5

Return your head slowly to neutral, then repeat the stretch on the opposite side.

  6. 6

Work toward 2-4 repetitions on each side.

Form tips & common mistakes
