Overview
Wall Walk is a bodyweight movement that builds shoulder, chest, arm, and core strength while also sharpening balance and coordination. Gymnastics, calisthenics, and CrossFit programs often use it to prepare athletes for handstands, handstand push-ups, and other overhead movements.
How to do it
- 1
Set Up in a Push-up Position
- Start face down on the floor with your feet placed against a wall.
- Set your hands a little wider than shoulder-width apart in a push-up position.
- Brace your core and keep your legs straight.
- 2
Walk Your Feet Up the Wall
- Drive through your hands and start stepping your feet up the wall.
- At the same time, walk your hands closer to the wall.
- Hold a straight body line and do not arch your back.
- 3
Reach the Handstand Position
- Keep moving until your chest is near the wall and your arms are fully extended.
- Pause briefly in this position while staying in control.
- 4
Walk Back Down
- Carefully move your hands away from the wall as you lower your feet to the floor.
- Stay tight through your core and do not let your body collapse.
- Finish back in the starting push-up position.
