Overview
Wall-Supported Handstand Push-Ups are a vertical pressing exercise performed upside down with a wall for support. The wall helps you stay stable so you can develop shoulder and triceps strength while keeping good alignment.
How to do it
- 1
Warm Up Properly
- Mobilize the wrists, shoulders, and triceps with stretches before you begin.
- Turn on your core with plank holds and pike push-ups.
- 2
Get Into Position
- Set your hands on the floor shoulder-width apart, 6 to 12 inches from a wall.
- Kick up into a handstand position, keeping your core tight and legs straight.
- Let your heels rest lightly on the wall for support.
- 3
Lower into the Push-Up
- Bend your elbows and lower your head toward the floor with control.
- Keep your elbows at a 45-degree angle to protect your shoulders.
- Descend until your head lightly touches the ground or a mat.
- 4
Press Back Up
- Use your shoulders, triceps, and core to drive yourself back to the start.
- At the top, keep your arms straight and your shoulders active.
- Stay controlled the entire time to avoid losing balance.
