Overview

The Stability Ball Push-Up is a push-up variation that replaces the floor with a stability ball under your hands. Because the ball is unstable, your core, shoulders, and other stabilizing muscles must work harder to keep you balanced, which makes the exercise more challenging and effective.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set a stability ball on the floor in front of you.

  2. 2

Move into a high plank, with both hands on the ball and placed about shoulder-width apart.

  3. 3

Reach your legs back and keep your body in a straight line from head to heels. Tighten your core to stay stable.

  4. 4

Lower your chest slowly toward the ball by bending your elbows. Keep your elbows at a 45-degree angle from your body.

  5. 5

    Pause

for a moment when your chest is just above the ball.

  6. 6

Press back to the starting position and fully straighten your arms.

  7. 7

Do 8–15 repetitions for 3–4 sets.
