Overview

The Seated Chest Stretch is a static stretching exercise designed to lengthen the pectoralis major and minor, along with the anterior deltoids. It is especially useful if you sit for long periods, since it helps offset rounded posture and chest tightness.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set Up Seated:Sit on the floor with your knees bent and your feet planted flat.Put your hands behind your back, with your fingers pointing toward your body.

  2. 2

Create the Stretch:Lift and drive your chest forward and up, while opening your chest and shoulders.Keep your arms slightly bent and steady so you do not place too much stress on the wrists.

  3. 3

Keep the Position:Stay in the stretch for 10 to 20 seconds and breathe deeply.Sense a mild stretch through your chest and shoulders without forcing it.

  4. 4

Come Out Slowly:Ease out and return to the start.Repeat for 2 to 3 sets, changing the intensity as needed.
