Overview

The One-Arm Kettlebell Chest Press is a one-sided pressing movement done by holding a kettlebell in one hand while you lie on a bench or on the floor. Because the load sits off center, it asks more from your grip, stability, and core than a standard barbell or dumbbell press.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Set-Up

Lie on a bench or the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat on the ground.Hold a kettlebell in one hand with a straight wrist and your palm facing forward.

  2. 2

    Starting Position

Drive the kettlebell straight up over your chest and fully extend your elbow.Keep the kettlebell seated against the back of your forearm for added stability.

  3. 3

    Lowering Phase

Guide the kettlebell down toward your chest at a slow pace, with your elbow positioned about 45 degrees away from your torso.Keep the lowering phase controlled so your stabilizing muscles stay active.

  4. 4

    Pressing Phase

Press the kettlebell back to the start in a straight path.Breathe out as you drive it upward and keep the movement under control.

  5. 5

    Switch Arms

Finish the planned reps, then move to the opposite arm.
