Overview

Cable Upper Chest Crossovers are a strength training exercise that works the upper chest, especially the clavicular head of the pectoralis major. Their main advantage is that they can emphasize the upper chest more than other chest movements. You do this by moving the arms upward and inward, which places focused tension on the upper part of the chest.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Adjust the cables

Set both cables to the highest position on the machine. Clip a handle onto each cable.

  2. 2

    Stand in the center

Face away from the machine and stand in the middle of it. Grip the handles with your palms facing down.

  3. 3

    Position yourself

Step forward with one leg or hinge slightly forward, and keep your feet shoulder-width apart. Extend your arms out to the sides until they are parallel to the floor.

  4. 4

    Cross the handles

Bring both handles together slowly, crossing them in front of your body. Keep a slight bend in your elbows.

  5. 5

    Squeeze your chest

Hold briefly and contract your chest muscles.

  6. 6

    Return to the starting position

Lower the handles slowly back to the start, maintaining a slight bend in your elbows.

  7. 7

    Repeat

Perform the exercise for the desired number of repetitions.
