Overview

Plank is an isometric core exercise where you hold a push-up-like position for as long as possible. You can use it in general fitness plans, advanced athletic training, and physical rehabilitation programs.

Form tips & common mistakes

Maintain a neutral spine, and create abdominal stabilization by drawing in the abdominal muscles.

Set the shoulder blades down, and activate the anterior dentate muscles and the lower portions of the trapezius muscles.

Avoid rounding or arching your back. Keep the pelvis neutral.

Avoid slumping or hunching. Keep the chest flat and the shoulder blades flattened.

Do not hold your breath. Breathe naturally and continuously.
