Neutral Grip Pull-up
How to do it
- 1
Setup
Locate a pull-up bar with parallel handles or bars. Take hold with your palms turned inward, and place your hands roughly shoulder-width apart.
- 2
Hang
Let yourself hang from the pull-up bar with your arms straight, shoulders relaxed, and your core braced.
- 3
Pulling
Start the rep by firing your back muscles and drawing your body upward. Aim to drive your elbows down and in toward your sides. Keep your core firm and the movement under control.
- 4
Ascent
Keep pulling until your chin rises above the bar. Avoid extra swinging or using momentum to finish the rep. Stay as steady as you can.
- 5
Descent
Lower your body back to the start position slowly and with control. At the bottom, fully extend your arms to finish one rep.

Repetitions
Choose a set number of repetitions that matches your fitness level. Begin with a number that is challenging but still lets you keep good form.
