Lever Incline Chest Press
Overview
How to do it
- 1
Adjust the Seat
Position the seat so the handles line up with your chest. This helps the press hit the upper chest effectively.
- 2
Choose the Weight
Pick a load you can move smoothly through the full range of motion.
- 3
Grip the Handles
Sit with your back pressed firmly into the pad. Hold the handles with your palms facing forward; the machine usually uses neutral or pronated grips.
- 4
Position Your Feet
Set your feet flat on the floor to stay stable.
- 5
Press the Handles Up
Drive the handles forward under control, and fully extend your arms without locking your elbows.
- 6
Squeeze at the Top
Briefly contract your chest at the top of the rep to increase muscle engagement.
- 7
Lower Slowly
Guide the handles back down toward your chest slowly, and feel the stretch in your upper chest and shoulders.
- 8
Repeat
Complete the target number of reps while keeping the movement controlled from start to finish.
Form tips & common mistakes
Concentrate on squeezing the chest at the top of every rep to maximize activation of the pectoral muscles.
Use a slow tempo so the chest muscles stay under constant tension, which supports muscle growth.
Press all the way without locking your elbows, then return the handles to your chest for a full stretch.
Benefits
Places emphasis on the upper chest, helping improve overall chest development by highlighting the upper region.
The machine controls the path of motion, which helps reduce injury risk and supports proper form. That can be especially useful for beginners or people recovering from injury.
The fixed lever path places less unnecessary strain on the shoulders than free weight pressing exercises.
It is effective for building strength and muscle size, especially in the upper chest, when you use proper technique and progressive overload.
Its design supports a more natural pressing pattern, which can lessen shoulder stress, especially for people with shoulder issues.
