Overview

The Lever Decline Chest Press is a machine-based resistance movement designed to emphasize the lower pectoral muscles. You perform it on a lever or plate-loaded chest press machine, with the handles following a fixed path.

This lever system creates a smooth motion pattern, which helps reduce the chance of poor form while still supporting progressive overload with minimal risk of injury.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set Up the Machine:Set the seat height so the handles line up with your lower chest when you are seated.Adjust the backrest so it gives you proper support.

  2. 2

Get Into Position:Sit with your back pressed firmly into the pad and your feet flat on the floor.Take the handles with a neutral or pronated grip, depending on the machine design.Keep your elbows at a 45-degree angle to help reduce shoulder strain.

  3. 3

Drive the Weight:Exhale as you press the handles forward in a controlled way until your arms are fully extended.Do not lock out your elbows at the top.

  4. 4

Lower Under Control:Inhale and bring the weight back down slowly to the starting position.Keep your chest muscles engaged for the entire movement.

  5. 5

Complete the Repetitions:Do 3 to 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps, based on your training goals.
