Overview

Bodyweight Standing Calf Raise is a straightforward isolation move that mainly works the calf muscles, especially the gastrocnemius and soleus. Because you use only your bodyweight, it suits all fitness levels and works well for home training, warm-ups, or general conditioning.

How to do it

  1. 1

Starting Position: Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart. Keep your shoulders back, your chest open, and your core tight.

  2. 2

Foot and Body Alignment: Set your toes flat on the edge of a high platform and spread your weight evenly through both legs.

  3. 3

Lift Movement: Rise slowly onto the balls of your feet. Lift your heels as high as you comfortably can and fully contract the calves.

  4. 4

Controlled Lowering: Lower your heels back to the floor with control. Keep the movement smooth all the way down.

  5. 5

Repeat: Complete 15–25 repetitions per set, using controlled and deliberate reps.
